State Privacy Rights Notice: See the State privacy rights notice section below for important information about your rights under applicable state privacy laws.
Lawyered, LLC (“Lawyered,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a technology platform and online marketplace that connects individuals and businesses seeking legal services (“Clients”) with independent, licensed attorneys (“Attorneys”), and provides participating Attorneys with tools for marketing, client communication, and billing. Please do not refer someone to us or share their contact details with us unless you have their permission to do so.
How your information is shared with Attorneys and other users
The core function of the Service is to connect Clients with Attorneys. Accordingly:
- • When a Client submits a legal request and chooses to contact an Attorney (or is matched with an Attorney and initiates contact), we share the Client’s intake information, including the Client’s name, contact information, location, practice-area selections, preferences, and free-text description, with that Attorney so the Attorney can evaluate and respond to the request.
- • When an Attorney accepts a request, the Client and Attorney can exchange messages through the Service, and each party will see the communications and profile information of the other.
- • Attorney profiles, including name, firm, practice areas, jurisdictions, languages, pricing arrangements, and other professional information Attorneys choose to include, are visible to Clients and may be visible to the public.
- • Reviews, ratings, and other content posted in public areas of the Service may be visible to other users and the public, and can be seen, collected, and used by others, including being cached, copied, or stored elsewhere (e.g., by search engines). We are not responsible for others’ use of information you make public.
We do not share Client intake information with Attorneys the Client has not chosen to contact, except in de-identified or aggregated form as described in this Privacy Policy. Once information is shared with an Attorney, that Attorney’s use of the information is subject to the Attorney’s own professional obligations; the Attorney’s handling of your information outside the Service is not governed by this Privacy Policy.
Cookies and other tracking technologies
Some of our automatic data collection is facilitated by cookies and similar technologies, such as:
- •Cookies, which are small text files that websites store on user devices, including cookies that are necessary for the Service to function (such as authentication and security cookies), cookies that remember your preferences, and analytics cookies that help us understand how the Service is used.
- •Local storage technologies that provide cookie-equivalent functionality.
- •Web beacons or pixels, which we may use in emails to tell whether messages were opened or links were clicked.
We use these technologies to operate and secure the Service, remember your selections, and analyze and improve the Service. We do not use cookies or other tracking technologies to serve interest-based (targeted) advertising, and we do not permit third parties to collect personal information through the Service for their own advertising purposes. For information about your choices with respect to these technologies, see the Your choices section below.
How we use your personal information
We may use your personal information for the following purposes or as otherwise described at the time of collection:
Service delivery and operations. We may use your personal information to:
- • provide the Service, including identifying Attorneys who may fit a Client’s stated criteria (such as location, practice area, language, and pricing preferences) and facilitating contact between Clients and Attorneys;
- • enable security features of the Service;
- • establish and maintain your user profile on the Service;
- • facilitate messaging and other communication features between Clients and Attorneys;
- • process Attorney subscription transactions;
- • facilitate your invitations to friends who you want to invite to join the Service and your attorney recommendations;
- • communicate with you about the Service, including by sending Service-related announcements, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages; and
- • provide support for the Service, and respond to your requests, questions, and feedback.
Automated matching. We use automated tools, including artificial intelligence services, to suggest Attorneys based on the criteria you provide, including a review of the practice areas, location, language, and pricing preferences you select and the text of your description. This may include processing the description of your legal matter through a third-party AI service provider to better understand your needs, rank suggested Attorneys, and prepare a summary of your inquiry for the Attorney you choose to contact. Matching suggestions are informational only; you decide which Attorney, if any, to contact, and no engagement is formed through matching. We do not use automated processing to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.
Service personalization, which may include using your personal information to understand your needs and interests, personalize your experience with the Service and our Service-related communications, and remember your selections and preferences as you navigate the Service.
Service improvement and analytics. We may use your personal information to analyze your usage of the Service, improve the Service, improve the rest of our business, help us understand user activity on the Service, including which pages are most and least visited and how visitors move around the Service, as well as user interactions with our emails, and to develop new products and services.
Direct marketing. We may send you direct marketing communications about the Service and may personalize these messages based on your needs and interests. You may opt out of our marketing communications as described in the Your choices section below. We do not use your personal information for interest-based (targeted) advertising, and we do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Compliance and protection. We may use your personal information to:
- • comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas, investigations, or requests from government authorities;
- • protect our, your, or others’ rights, privacy, safety, or property (including by making and defending legal claims);
- • audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements or our internal policies;
- • enforce the terms and conditions that govern the Service; and
- • prevent, identify, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity, including cyberattacks, identity theft, and misrepresentation of attorney credentials.
To create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data. We may create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data from your personal information and the personal information of other individuals whose personal information we collect. We make personal information into de-identified and/or anonymized data by removing information that makes the data identifiable to you, and we will not attempt to reidentify any such data. We may use this aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including analyzing and improving the Service, understanding legal-services market trends, and promoting our business.
Further uses. In some cases, we may use your personal information for further uses, in which case we will ask for your consent to use your personal information for those further purposes if they are not compatible with the initial purpose for which the information was collected.
Retention
We generally retain personal information to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, establishing or defending legal claims, or for fraud prevention purposes. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we may consider factors such as the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.
When we no longer require the personal information we have collected about you, we may either delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it from further processing.
How we share your personal information
We may share your personal information with the following parties (or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, in other applicable notices, or at the time of collection).
Attorneys and other users. As described in the section above titled How your information is shared with Attorneys and other users.
Service providers. Third parties that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service or our business (such as hosting, information technology, database and authentication services, customer support, email delivery, and website analytics). Service providers are permitted to use personal information only to provide services to us.
Payment processors. Any payment card information you use to make a purchase on the Service is collected and processed directly by our payment processors, such as Stripe. Stripe may use your payment data in accordance with its privacy policy, https://stripe.com/privacy.
Professional advisors. Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, in the course of the professional services that they render to us.
Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the Compliance and protection purposes described above.
Business transferees. We may disclose personal information in the context of actual or prospective business transactions (e.g., investments in Lawyered, financing of Lawyered, or the sale, transfer, or merger of all or part of our business, assets, or interests). For example, we may need to share certain personal information with prospective counterparties and their advisers. We may also disclose your personal information to an acquirer, successor, or assignee of Lawyered as part of any merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, and/or in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which personal information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.
Third parties designated by you. We may share your personal information with third parties where you have instructed us or provided your consent to do so.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your personal information with third parties for targeted advertising or for their own marketing purposes.

The Service may contain links to websites, mobile applications, and other online services operated by third parties, including Attorney and law firm websites. In addition, our content may be integrated into web pages or other online services that are not associated with us. These links and integrations are not an endorsement of, or representation that we are affiliated with, any third party. Children
The Service is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian of a child from whom you believe we have collected personal information in a manner prohibited by law, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information through the Service from a child without the consent of the child’s parent or guardian as required by law, we will comply with applicable legal requirements to delete the information.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the date of this Privacy Policy and posting it on the Service or by other appropriate means. Any modifications to this Privacy Policy will be effective upon our posting the modified version (or as otherwise indicated at the time of posting).
